If you've tried almost everything to lose those extra pounds and still can't get anywhere, you might want to consider trying to lose weight by self-hypnosis. Studies have shown that hypnosis is a clinically proven method to help people kick unhealthy habits. So how exactly does someone lose weight by hypnosis?
Successful self-hypnosis requires 2 criteria -- firstly you must have a deep desire to make the change. This may mean you are already dieting and exercising but can't seem to get anywhere. Using hypnosis together with your current efforts will ramp up the results you desire.
Secondly, a proper technique must be used. Now, assuming you have a strong desire to drop the pounds, let's look at a 3-step technique you can use to lose weight by self-hypnosis --
1. Verbalize your goal
Write out a statement outlining your weight loss goal and make it appealing and something you can get excited over. Eg " I want to lose 50 pounds so that I will look more attractive, wear the kind of clothes I want to wear and be the envy of all my friends and co-workers"
2. Slowly relax your body
Find a comfortable chair. Close your eyes, and start by thinking about your feet. Consciously relax them, then do the same with your legs and move up your body until you're done with your head. Remember you are relaxing every part of your body, one by one.
You then count down from 10 to 1. Each time you recite a number, tell yourself you are relaxing more and more.
3. Read your statement repeatedly
Repeat whet you wrote earlier over and over. As you so, picture this in your mind and visualize all the scenarios that will result from you achieving this goal. Imagine yourself at the shopping mall, out at the beach with friends, partying at the club.
Use all your 5 senses to do this. Listen and hear the sounds of each scene, smell them, taste and feel them. Let the happy emotions associated with each activity grow in your heart as you "experience" what's in your mind.
Give yourself some time to enjoy the feeling, then let the pictures fade out, and count but this time from 1 to 10 and then open your eyes.
As you do this exercise day after day, you will find that your body will respond to the positive pictures of the future that you have planted in your mind. It will start to respond better to any exercise you do, you will also seem to be able to better manage your food intake and find it easier to make the right choices or say no to the wrong foods. What has happened is your subconscious is working actively towards the goal you visualize, and is now aligning everything you do to achieve that goal.
